Labor Day in Branson is the last big weekend of summer, and 2026 is not an ordinary one. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headline a three-day air show over Branson Airport as part of America’s 250th anniversary, Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic runs straight through the holiday, and Table Rock Lake gets its final full weekend of swimming weather before the pools close and the crowds thin.

Labor Day weekend 2026 runs Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7. Here is what is confirmed, what to book first, and how to plan a weekend that is going to be one of the busiest of the year in the Ozarks.

What’s Happening in Branson on Labor Day Weekend 2026?

Two headline events and one seasonal deadline define the weekend:

Sat–Mon, Sept 5–7
Wings of Pride Air Show, Branson Airport, Hollister · buy parking with tickets
Through Mon, Sept 7
Southern Gospel Picnic at Silver Dollar City · last Thunderation season
All weekend
Table Rock Lake · Moonshine Beach open through mid-Sept · reserve boats
Nightly
Full theater schedules through Monday · Landing fountain show after dark

Add a theater lineup that keeps full schedules through the holiday Monday, and Branson has three days that need booking, not browsing.

Branson Wings of Pride Air Show: The Thunderbirds Over Branson

The Branson Wings of Pride Air Show returns to Branson Airport in Hollister on September 5, 6 and 7, 2026, and the organizers are billing it as the town’s big end-of-summer celebration for America’s 250th year. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headline; local coverage also lists the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and a USAF C-17 Globemaster III demonstration on the bill — confirm the full lineup on the air show’s site, since performer schedules change.

Three things the organizers state plainly and that will decide whether your day works:

  • Parking must be bought in advance with your tickets — one pass per vehicle — and there are no parking sales at the gate. When parking passes are gone, they are gone.
  • Tickets are valid only for the day purchased and prices rise as the date approaches; general admission is an untented lawn area, first come, first served, and you may bring chairs, blankets and umbrellas.
  • Children 5 and under are free in general admission only; ages 6–17 are discounted; active-duty military and veterans get 10 percent off one adult general admission and one parking pass with the code MIL2026 and ID at the gate.

Premium seating in the Gold Club and Silver Club is sold separately, and tickets are non-refundable though exchanges may be offered before sell-out. Local sources are calling this the tightest lodging weekend of the fall — the show draws from several states and Branson’s hotels do not have the room to absorb it. That is the case for renting a home and booking it now.

Silver Dollar City: Southern Gospel Picnic Through the Holiday

Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic runs August 27 through September 7, which means the festival’s closing weekend is Labor Day weekend. Evening concerts fill the Echo Hollow amphitheater, the picnic-style chicken-and-fixin’s spread runs during the festival, and all the rides operate — including, for anyone who grew up on it, a final season for the Thunderation mine-train coaster, which the park says retires in early January 2027.

Practical notes: this is a peak festival weekend on top of a holiday, so arrive at opening, take the Marvel Cave tour early before the line builds, and reserve any wheelchairs or ECVs at least 24 hours ahead. The Harvest Festival, with its 20,000 pumpkins, does not begin until September 11 — if you want pumpkins, come back.

The Last Lake Weekend: Table Rock, Taneycomo and the Beach

Labor Day is the last weekend most of Branson treats the lake as summer. Moonshine Beach — the only sand beach on Table Rock, $5 a vehicle — is open through mid-September, and it fills early on holiday weekends; bring a card, since cash is not always accepted. Resort community pools across the Branson area typically close after Labor Day, so if a pool is part of your plan, this is the weekend to use it.

On the water: State Park Marina and the other Table Rock marinas rent pontoons and run sunset cruises, and Silver Dollar City’s Showboat Branson Belle sails dinner cruises through the holiday. Reserve boats and cruises ahead — holiday weekends sell out marinas the way the air show sells out parking. For a quieter day, the James River float outfitters at Galena run through September, and Lake Taneycomo’s cold, dam-fed kayak floats are unaffected by late-summer river levels.

Shows, Fireworks and the Landing

Branson’s theaters keep full schedules through Labor Day weekend, holiday Monday included, so a Saturday show and a Sunday matinee are both on the table — see our live music and comedy guides for the mid-size shows worth your night. Branson Landing’s free fountain show runs hourly and is at its best after dark; the boardwalk is where much of the town ends up on a holiday evening. Any organized fireworks or downtown celebration for the weekend had not been published by the organizers as of this writing — check the Branson Landing and Explore Branson event calendars the week of.

How to Plan Labor Day Weekend in Branson

  • Book lodging first, today. Between the air show and the holiday, this is the tightest weekend of the fall. A vacation home keeps a group together and puts a kitchen between you and the restaurant lines.
  • Buy air show tickets and parking together, for the specific day you want. Parking is capped and not sold at the gate.
  • Arrive Friday. Highway 76 and the airport corridor will be slow Saturday morning; being in town Friday night turns the weekend from a logistics exercise into a vacation.
  • Reserve boats, cruises and any wheelchair or ECV rentals ahead; none of them are day-of on a holiday.
  • Stagger the crowds. Silver Dollar City at opening, the lake mid-day, a show or the Landing at night; the air show sits in Hollister, on the far side of town from the park.
  • Plan Monday as the easy day. The air show runs through Monday, September 7, and most visitors leave Monday morning — an afternoon session or a lake morning is the quietest part of the weekend.
