How Branson Became the Live Entertainment Capital of the World

World Branson’s story starts in 1959, when the Baldknobbers Hillbilly Jamboree played their first notes on the banks of Lake Taneycomo — the oldest continuously running show in Branson and the seed of an industry that now draws millions of visitors annually. What began with a handful of local musicians has evolved into a city of 13,000 residents that hosts 45 theaters, most clustered along 76 Country Boulevard, collectively offering over 100 shows at any given time.
