Branson Ghost Tours offers a longer, family-friendly walk that ends with a free walking taco. A self-guided audio tour lets you roam at your own pace. What Are the Best Branson Ghost Tours?

Three tours cover downtown’s haunted history, and each suits a different traveler. All three are on foot, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a light jacket.

Spirits on the Strip Ghost Tour

US Ghost Adventures runs Spirits on the Strip, which meets outside the Historic Owen Theatre at 205 S Commercial St. The tour runs nightly, year-round, and covers about one mile in one hour. Guides blend documented history with local legend at stops like the Branson Scenic Railway, the Plum Bazaar, and the Music City Centre. Reservations are required. The tour stays outside every building, and it is not wheelchair accessible.

Branson Ghost Tours

Branson Ghost Tours leads a guided walk through historic downtown with stops at the cemetery, the railway, a theater, and a hotel. The company promises “spooky fun, no jump scares,” which makes it an easy pick for families. The tour ends with a complimentary walking taco at Walker’s Branson. Its booking pages list the walk at 75 to 90 minutes, so confirm the length and meeting spot when you book.

Downtown Branson Self-Guided Audio Ghost Tour

Branson Outdoor Center sells a self-guided audio tour for $9.95 (price verified September 24, 2026). You get 10 downtown stories plus three bonus hauntings within driving distance. Press play at each stop, or build your own route.

What Haunted History Will You Hear in Downtown Branson?

Branson’s ghost stories stick because the buildings behind them are real.

The Historic Owen Theatre

Jim Owen, a fishing guide and former Branson mayor, opened the theater on June 5, 1936. It is Branson’s longest-running theater and is now home to the Branson Regional Arts Council. Tour guides say a crew of phantoms lingers inside, including the founder himself and a mysterious woman in blue.

The Branson Scenic Railway Depot

This story starts with a documented shootout. On October 14, 1930, lawmen confronted the outlaw Jake Fleagle as he boarded a train in Branson. He was shot and died the next morning in a Springfield hospital, according to the White River Valley Historical Quarterly. Guides now tell of a bitter outlaw’s ghost at the depot: the last member of the Fleagle Gang.

The Branson Hotel and the Plum Bazaar

The Branson Hotel dates to 1903. Guides claim author Harold Bell Wright, who wrote The Shepherd of the Hills, never checked out. Tours also stop at the Plum Bazaar, which guides describe as the former site of a brothel and saloon. For the daylight side of this history, read our Shepherd of the Hills guide.

Branson Ghost Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

Are Branson ghost tours too scary for kids?

Most tours here lean on storytelling, not jump scares. Branson Ghost Tours promises “spooky fun, no jump scares,” and Spirits on the Strip is listed as family friendly. The walks run after dark and cover about a mile, so little ones may tire. Castle of Chaos welcomes ages 4 and up, while the haunted coaster is recommended for ages 13 and up.

How long does a Branson ghost tour take?

Spirits on the Strip lasts about one hour and covers roughly one mile of downtown. Branson Ghost Tours lists its walk at 75 to 90 minutes, ending with the walking taco, so confirm the length when you book. The self-guided audio tour has no set length. Finish its 10 stories in one evening or spread them across several nights.

Do you need to book a Branson ghost tour in advance?

Yes, book ahead whenever you can. Spirits on the Strip requires a reservation, and October weekends fill with spooky events. Booking also confirms your meeting spot, which matters because the guided tours start from different corners of downtown. The self-guided audio tour is the exception. Buy it online, create a login, and start walking the same night.

What is the most haunted place in Branson?

No one can prove a haunting, but the Historic Owen Theatre may be the most storied stop. Opened in 1936, it is Branson’s longest-running theater, and guides say its founder and a woman in blue still roam inside. The Branson Scenic Railway depot runs a close second, thanks to the real 1930 shootout that ended outlaw Jake Fleagle’s run.

When are Branson’s Halloween haunted attractions open?

The Curse at The Branson Ghoster Coaster runs Friday and Saturday nights in October, 8 to 10 p.m. Sleepy Hollow at Shepherd of the Hills runs evenings from September 12 through October 24. Castle of Chaos and Spirits on the Strip operate beyond Halloween. Dates were verified September 24, 2026, so check each venue’s website before you go.
